DR. BOND AND THE HIBERNIAN SOCIETY.

The friends of Dr. and Mrs. Bond, who left Auckland for Chicago some months ago, will read with interest the following letter sent, by Dr. Bond to the Auckland branch of the Hibernian Society through Mr. T. H. White, one of the officers, who recently visited America :— 4802, Lake Avenue, Kenwood, Chicago, Illinois, U.S.A. February 20, 1891. To xht. officers and members of the Auckland Branch, No. 81, of H.A.C.B.S. Gentlemen, —Mrs. Bond and -1 were most pleasantly surprised by a visit from your former president, Mr. T. H. White, who with his wonted courtesy gave us all information of our friends in Auckland. Always remembering the kindness and consideration which I received from the members of the Society, I cannot allow this opportunity to pass of conveying my best wishes for the health and prosperity of the Society'and its members. Mr*. Bond and I had a very pleasant trip across America, visiting many of the towns and States on our way. Among the rest, we were enchanted with the beautiful scenery of the Rio Grande route through Colorado with its deep gorges and steep and towering heights, rendering many triumphs of engineering necessary in laying the lint'. Silt Lake City was of great interest from its being the capital of the Mormons. Everywhere we were struck with the signs of growth and prosperity. But nowhere did we iind the mild beauty of New Zealand, and the hard frozen ground and white expanse of snow presented a marked contrast to the continual verdure and gentle climatic aspects of Auckland. I am happy to say that Mrs. Bond is very well, and that ' I enjoy bptter health already than I have experienced for the years."—With best wishes, I am, etc., John H. R. Bond.
