Press Association.—Electric Telegraph.— THE CITY OF LONDON SEAT. London, April 11. Mr. W. H. Gibbs, of Messrs. Antony Gibbs and Sons, merchants, will contest City of London seat in the House of Commons, vacated by the death of Mr. Thomas Charles Baring. JUDICIAL APPOINTMENT.. London, April 11. Mr. Richard Henn Collins, Q.C., succeeds Sir James F. Stephen as Judge of the Queen's Bench Division. THE LABOUR COMMISSION. London, April 11. The Labour Commission consists of 27 inquiries. These include relations and combinations of employers and employed, and the conditions of labour as raised by recent trade disputes. The Commissioners are also required to report as to the legislation necessary to remedy grievances. The Pall Mall Gazette condemns omission of colonial members on the Commission, ant? suggests that the name of Sir Andrew Clark should be added.
