Press Association.—Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. A MELBOURNE LIBEL CASE. Melbourne, April 10. The action in which Andrew Rowan claims £25,000 from Mr. Horsfall as damages for alleged libel and slander arising out of a dispute with Goldsbrouech, Mort and Company's directors, has been referred to arbitration. There is also a cross action, in which Horsfall claims £30,0Q0 damages from Rowan for libel. NEW SOUTH WALES BORROWING. Sydney, April 10. The Government, in order to avoid going on the London market in the present state of the money market, are borrowing what they require from the New South Wales Savings Bank at 4 cent. BANK EMBEZZLERS. Sydney, April 10. At the Supreme Court to-day Bradley, late manager of the Devonshirestreet branch of the English and Scottish Chartered Bank, was sentenced ix six years' penal servitude for embezzlement, and Bruce, another bank embezzler, received five years. SIR H. ATKINSON AND CAPTAIN * RUSSELL. Sydney, April 10. Sailed : Manapouri, for Auckland. Sir Harry Atkinson and Captain Russell return to New Zealand by her. NEW SOUTH WALES PARLIAMENT. Sydney, April 10. The Government will summon Parliament for the despatch of business at the end of May. They propose to introduce measures dealing with local government, electoral laws, and coal mines regulations. This being the last session of the present Parliament, no attempt will be made to bring the question of federation to a vote of the House, but it will form the main plank upon which the Government will go to the country. THE SYDNEY WHEAT MARKET. Sydney, April 10. The wheat market is in a very unsettled condition, and buyers are awaiting further developments. New South Wales has been relying to a great extent on the anticipated surplus from the Victorian yield, and South Australia has shipped away great quantities, so that there is very little prospect of relief from that quarter.
