The weather this morning is bitterly cold, the thermometer nearly registering feezing point. 1 The time for receiving nominations for the election of a new Licensing Committee has been fixed for Wednesday, the loth irstant, up to noon of that day, at the Council Chambers, Hamilton, and the election will be held, if necessary, on the 22nd tinst, iu the same place. Considerable interest will be taken in this election, as it is determined by many to return a committee havirg tire courage of its opinions, and, while maintaining the efficiency of hotels as ministerial to the convenience and comfort of the travelling public, to reduce the evils of the sale of alcoholic liquors to a minimum. The local option poll will also be taken on the 22nd instant at the Borough Council Chambers. JELoxtly, Tuesday, Two patients were yesterday'sent up from here to the Waikato Hospital. Kihikiiii, Tuesday. Last month the natives brought in 10,000 rabbit skins, showing that bunny still keeps up his numbers in the King country. For these they received the usual bonus of 3d per skin.

On the Hon, Mr. Cadman's arrival at Te Awamutu on Friday a large deputation waited on him to endeavour to get the bridge over the Puniu converted into a combined traffic and railway bridge, but for obvious reasons got little encouragement. 11 is a pity but their application had taken the form of asking for a bridge over the Puniu at Anderson's and the making of the road to the Te Puhi station, thus saving from two to three miles to settlers here and at Orakau taking Eroduce to the railway, and diverting the eavy traffic from the bad piece of road between this township and Te Awamutu.
