MINE MANAGER'S REPORTS.

Cambria. —The mine continues to look well, and there is reason to believe that the crushing now proceeding will be equal to its predecessor. Trenton.—-The plan has been forwarded to the company's surveyor to post up and mark the drive on the new lode to enable it to be considered whether the rock-borer should be set to work to drive east to the May Queen slide, which the survey makes to run through the Trenton about 100 feet east of the drive on the new lode. Should the lode meet the slide, and be found eastward of it with similar results met with in the May Queen, a new state of matters would result to the Trenton. May Queen. plan with the new level marked on it lias been returned to the company's office, and shows that from the bottom of the winze 430 feet has been cleared to the City of London shaft; also that 90 feet has been driven eastward on the lode from the bottom of the winze towards the May Queen slide. To the latter point 50 feet, yet require to be driven, when, if the development of the lode is similar to the level above, the rich section of the No. 4 lode will be to hand, and crushing dirt brought to grass. The plan also shows that the underlie of No. 4 footwall branch, where a winze has been commenced on No. 1 level, is northward, and leaves the impression that the leader will be found intact down to the new level. A beginning will soon be made of quartz being sent to the hopper. _ LpNK Hand. —A winze is being sunk at the Moa level, and it is to be hoped that rich gold will follow. Consols.—Five pounds of good rich specimens were obtained on Thiuday last by one of the tribute parties working in the ground, •and they have been forwarded to the company's office, for the phrnose of being seen. Otama (Kuaotunu). —The mine manager wired, on Saturday :— Squeezed plate amalgam on hand for 720z, hot water. About 40 tons put through the battery." Try Fluke (Kuaotunu). — The mine manager wired, on Saturday: Two hundred and twelve tons ore for 15'20z retorted gold." Great Mercury Proprietary (Kuaotunu). —The main tunnel has been driven a total distance of 321 feet, and expect to intersect the Try Fluke reef every shift. A reef 18 inches wide was cut at 312 feet, which gives prospects by mortar tests; the country is blockey blue mineralised sandStone. The winze on the Try Fluke lode has been sunk a total depth of 113 feet; |it should connect at 125 feet. The reef is large (3 feet and over), and impregnated with blotches of mineral, which is a favourable indication for gold. The works on the east side of the hill (high level) are almost completed. Nos. 1,2, and 3 tunnels—97 feet, 37 feet, and 133 feet respectivelyare finished; also 11 chains of side cutting. Tenders have been accepted for laying down a tramway and building shoot to connect with winze on the Try Fluke reef. Work has also been started on No. 8 Red Mercury reef. Machinery erection is being pushed on with; the smoke stack is finished. The boiler, engine, and stamper-boxes are in position, and will soon be ready for work.
