John Aldridge, who was , convicted of forgery at Blenheim recently and sentenced to five years' penal servitude, and wno is now a prisoner at Mount Cook gaol, has applied for a writ of habeas corpus, on the ground that Judge Edwards, who tried the case, is not properly a Judge. The application will raise the question of the legality of Judge Edwards' appointment. The case cannot come on for hearing till the return of the Chief Justice.
