THE MISSING TOWN CLERK.
[BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION*.! Gisborne, Thursday. A careful search has peen made for the missing man, John Bourke, without result. It is thought likely his body will be found among the rocks at low tide. The deceased was 43 years old, and had been town clerk in Gisborne for ten years having previously been accountant in the Union Bank, Gisborne, Nelson, »nd Invercargill. His early days were spent at Napier. Mrs. Bourke states that her husband left home at half-past six for a bathe, saying that lie would not be long away, and would be back for breakfast. The sea was very calm, but there was a very swift current running, and the. concrete blocks being very slippery, deceased would have had a difficulty in getting back on the pier. He was esteemed by every citizen, and his sad fate has «caused a great shock to the community.
