Last night about , midnight the brigantine Oamaru, Captain Richards, arrived from jSdithburg, S.A., with a full cargo of salt. The master, who is accompanied ou the present trip by Mrs. Richards as passenger, reports The Oamaru left Kdithburg on March 11, and had Cape Otway abeam 011 the 17th. Variable winds from 8. W. to VV.S.W. across to the North 'Jape, which was sighted on the 29th. Strong easterly winds with heavy N.E. swell along the coast. On April Ist Cape Brett was abeam, and port made as above. . Yesterday morning the s.b. Walnut was busy unloading her Island fruit, of which a large consignment was transhipped to the s.b. Mararoa for the South. The s.s. Chelmsford arrived yesterday from Opotiki and the Bay of Plenty with general produce. The ketch Agnes Martin has been engaged to " run in conjunction with the schooner Gisborne on the East Coast, and has gone to Tairua under charge of Captain Pago to fill up with timber for Gisborne. About 1 o'clock yesterday the s.s. Mararoa took her departure for the South with a cargo of provisions, fruit, and sundries, and a good number of passengers. - The brigantine Anthons, Captain George McKenzie, which took in tho last of her cargo of 120,000 feet of sawn kauri on Wednesday, was yesterday cleared at tho Customs for Sydney, and sailed out of port last night. At the Railway Wharf the s.s. Richmond completed her discharge yesterday, and will begin to ship her outward cargo for Tonga, Samoa, Rarotonga, and Tahiti to-day. She will probably leave to-morrow. The brigantine Linda Weber, Captain J. B. Dickson, is almost ready for sea with provisions and general trade for tho Hervey Group, and will likely get away this evenfjuring the past quarter the following number of vessels have entered and cleared at the Customs for the port of Auckland Entered inwards : 25 sailing vessels, abrogate registered tonnage 8891; 36 steamers, aggregate tonnage 37,496 total, 66 vessels, with tonnage of 46,387. Cleared outwards ; 33 Bailing vessels, aggregate tonnage 11,295; 36 steamers, tonnage 37,423: total, 69 vessels, with tonnage of 48,718. The Shaw Savill and Albion Shipping Company, in pursuance of their expressed intention of running a regular line of carpo steamers to this port, have just fixed the splendid new vessels Matatua and Rangatira to follow the Maori, the latter being now at Melbourne on her way to Auckland. The Matatua and Rangatira will not, however, call at any Australian port, but come direct from home to this colony. ■ * The Mew Zealand Shipping Co.'a R.M.s. Tongariro, which arrived at Plymouth on Tuesday last, made an excellent passage some of 39 days.
