WELLINGTON NEWS NOTES.

[By TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Wellington, Wednesday. MINISTERS' MOVEMENTS. The Premier, and the Hon. Mr. Ward (Postmaster-General), arrived in Wellington last night, the former from Now Plymouth, the latter from Auckland, en route from Australia. THE EX-SPEAKER. Sir Maurice O'Rorke is at present in Wellington, on his way from the New Zealand Senate meetings to his home in Auckland. DR. KOCH'S LYMPH. The Government have received through the Agent-General a bottle of Dr. Koch's tuberculosis lymph, with a syringe for its use. I asked a gentleman connected with one of the departments what the Government proposed to do with it now they had gob it. Tho gentleman told me that no one in the buildings felt in the least inclined to touch it. It was sent to Dr. Macgregor, who will no doubt find the legitimate use for this powerful decoction, or whatever it may be. The intention, I believe, is to forward it to one of the hospitals. I learn that in the South there has arisen quite a demand for the tuberculosis lymph. This is a 2oz bottle, and I need hardly say cannot be shipped in quantity or transmitted by railway in the guard's van.- I am in a position to state that arrangements have been made for a fortnightly consignment of the lymph to Kew Zealand.

NATIVE LEGISLATION. I understand that tho Chief Judge of the Native Lands Court has received instructions to confer with the Native Minister upon this subject. I have also reason to believe that the new legislation in native matters will be the commencement of an altogether new departure in the method of conducting native suits in that Court. The object is to simplify the proceedings and make them more intelligible to the suitors. Nothing can be known until Ministers reassemble in Wellington. I believo there will be considerable retrenchment in this department. DEFENCE DEPARTMENT. Consequent upon the recent retirements from the service, I believe there will be a good deal of change in the distribution of the officers and promotions. ' No details can be had until Ministers can consider tho whole question of amalgamation of offices in Cabinet.
