THE CITIZENS BALL.

The arrangements for the citizens' ball, to be held to-morrow evening in the Choral Hall, are proceeding satisfactorily. It is anticipated that the ball will be one worthy of the city and the citizens. As there appears to be some misapprehension in the public mind as to how tickets are to be procured, and from whom, we are requested to state that they may be obtained from any of the members of the committee, a list of whose names appear in our advertising columns or from the honorary secretaries, Messrs. H. C. Tewsley and C. Ranson. A meeting of the general committee will be held this afternoon in the Mayor's office, at • four o'clock, to make final arrangements with regard to the ball. A full attendance is requested, A number of stewards have been told off whose special duty it will be to introduce ladies to the officers of the men-of-war invited. The following are the M.C.'s appointed : —J. Coates, G. Aickin, Dr. Lewis, J. Philson, James Russell. Officials, consuls, volunteer officers, etc., are invited to appear in uniform. There will be over eighty officers from the British and Austrian men-of-war in harbour. The cards of invitation have been executed at the Herald printing establishment, and are in two shades of colour, beautifully tinted, one for gentlemen and the other for ladies, having on the loft side of the card the Onslow arms and on the right the arms of the city of Auckland.
