WAIPU AGRICULTURAL SHOW.

The Waipu Agricultural and Pastoral Association held their fifth annual Show on Wednesday, March 25. The. live stock were exhibited in the Caledonian Park, and the farm and garden produce, fancy work, etc., were displayed in the library hall, which ad- ; joins the Park ground. A greater number of exhibits were sent in. than any previous year, and the quality was also in many cases superior. ' A large number of visitors from the neighbouring districts attended the Show, and during their sojourn in the place strained the accommodation of the lodginghouses beyond their normal limits. The judges in various classes were : —Messrs. ! Ellingham, Harrison, and Home, for bread, preserves, and dairy produce Messrs. Knaggs and Weaver, for farm and garden produce; Mesdames Munro and . Carruth, for fancy work; Messrs. 'Hawkins and Elliott for horses ; sheep and cattle, Messrs. Carter and Haunter. A very successful concert was given in the Library Hall in the evening in aid of the society's' funds. The following ladies and gentlemen rendered the various items in pleasing style :Miss C. McLean, Mesdames M. Stewart, Harrison, and A. McGregor, Messrs. Sloane and W. Hay Chapman. The concert was presided over by Mr. R. Finlayson's Chauter, this • horse having walked fairly all the way round the course. : For the best lady rider two first prizes were awarded, one to Miss Wintle and one to Miss C. McLean.
