OUT ON STRIKE.

THE BOOT TRADE. UNIONS REJECT MANUFACTURERS , OFFERS. DECLINE ANY FURTHER PARLEY. A meetinw of the Operative Bootmakers' Union was held last night, in the Wesley Hall, in order to take into consideration the letter of the Auckland Boot Manufacture^ , Union rejecting the federated statement, but at the same time offering to meet the men in conference for the consideration of a mutually agreed 'upon local statement. There was a large attendance, nearly 300 members being present. Mr. C. B. King (president of the association) occupied tho chair. Correspondence of a satisfactory nature was read from Wellington, Christchurch, and Dunedin, and from the Federated Bootmakers' Union.

After a general discussion with reference to the federated statement which had been submitted to the Auckland boot manufacturers, it was reeolved, " That this union declines to enter into any further correspondence with the Auckland Boot Manufacturers Association, re proposed local statement, and that we decide to stand or fall by the statement already submitted as printed." At a meeting of the Boot Machinists' Union held last evening, it was decided in reference to the present dispute, to support the Operative Bootmakers Union in any action they might take. As a result o? the decisions arrived at by the above Unions, it will be at once seen that their ultimatum not having been complied with by the manufacturers the members of both unions are now practically out on strike.

Telegrams have, it is stated by officers of fche Operative Bootmakers' Union, been received from several Southern centres, offering employment to any members of the union who may choose to go South.
