MESSRS. HUNTER & NOLAN'S SHEEP FAIR.

Yesterday Messrs. Hunter and Nolan held' their annual sheep fair at Green Lane. About 4000 sheep were catalogued. The sale was generally one of the most successful held here for many years. There was animated bidding, and the prices realised were very satisfactory, the averages being high. Lincoln ewes ranged up to 17s (which were obtained for a pen bred by Fhzpatrick Bros.), and wethers to 15s 3d,while crossbreds reached 14s 9d. For rams competition was also good. A Lincoln ram bred by Mr. Robert Hall, One-tree Hill, realised £14 10s, the highest amount paid for a ram in Auckland for some time. It was bought by Mr. S. C. Baird, Otahuhu, and was worth all the money. The rain was one of a pen of four fine-looking animals. Mr. Baird secured it only after a spirited competition with Mr. McKenzie. A full brother to the ram sold by Messrs. Buckland and Sons on Tuesday for £9 was offered by Mr. W. H. Martin, but did not find a purchaser at the reserve placed on it. This was the most notable of the very few lots passed — only about three in all. The auctioneer was Mr. J, P. A. Philson, who conducted the sale with his usual bonhommic. Before the auction one thousand two-tooth ewes and twenty two-tooth rams were sold privately. There was a large attendance of buyers. The lots disposed of were as follows:—
