THE VILLAGE SETTLEMENT SCHEME.

. [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Chkistchcrch, Wednesday. The Hon. W. Copley, Commissioner of Lands for South Australia, arrived tonight from South Canterbury, having visited the village settlements en route. He considers most of the settlers to be of a desirable class, and thinks that if located near where employment is obtainable such settlement will enable suitable men to form comfortable homes. He leaves on Friday for the West Coast, whence he will go to Wellington, which he hopes to reach to-morrow week.
