The Minister of Lands has had prepared a return of the principal exports for the last decade of years, that is from from 1881 to 1891). The following are the revenue returns for the nine months ended December 3lst : — Customs, £1,121.989; stamps, £401,181; postal and telegraphs, £39,211 ; property tax, £211,408; beer duty, £41,615; railways, £784,791 ; registration, etc., fees; £29,903; marine, £14,101; land fund (ordinary sales), £82,228; deferred payments, £35,739; miscellaneous, £28,202; Territoral, £104,597. Total, excluding shillings and pence, £2,898,033. The actual collections are considerably, more than the above figures, as the latter only represent money brought to account by the Treasury. The accounts for the last quarter of the financial year always contain the largest receipts, because the revenue is telegraphed on the last day from all parts of the colony. The expenditure for the nine months is well within the bounds, and the Treasury officials anticipate that the financial results of the year will be up to expectations.
