R.M. COURT.—Friday. [Before Dr. Giles, R.M.I

Judgment Summonses.—ln the undermentioned judgment summons cases orders were made as fellows':— McGrath v. Geo. Clarke, claim £1 5s 6d ; ordered to be paid in five weeks. Mary Ann Edwards v. Henry Morris, claim £1 16s 9d; £1 was ordered to be paid in four weeks, and the balance in four weeks afterwards, or ten days' imprisonment in defaulb of either payment. William Bridge v. Nott and Collier. Claim £22 3s 4d, balance of account duo for contract for the seats and pulpit of the Onehunga Presbyterian Church, plaintiff having agreed to do the work for £105. Mr. S. Hesketh appeared for the plaintiff, and Dr. E. Laishley for the defendant. William Bridge gave evidence. as. to the contract and its conditions. He agreed to take the timber supplied by the defendant, and make it up. The latter agreed to pay advances as the work went on, the whole amount to be paid as soon as the contract was done. After the agreement had been made dofendant showed witness a specification, which stated that the seats were to be of heart of kauri free from defects. Six weeks were not fixed as the time in which the contract was to bo finished. Witness objected to being charged for certain screens, as he had nob agreed to make them. Alex. Neil, of the Waikabo Sawmill, deposed that the defendant took some unseasoned timber from him, such timber being unsuitable for joinery work. Br. Laishley, for tho defendant, contended that the case must be dismissed, as the sums to be dealt with amounted to over £100, which brought tho case out of tho jurisdiction of the Court. Mr. Hesketh, in reply, said that taking into consideration the amount practically admitted by the defendant, the sum in question was brought under the limit of £100. The defendant deposed that tho timber supplied was not according to the specification, and that the money was not to be paid until two months alter the approval of the architect. Moreover, the work was not done in the time allowed. Several other witnesses wero also examined. Dr. Giles reserved his decision.

POLICE COURT.—Friday. [Bofore Messrs 11. M. Jervis and J. Gordon, J.P's.]

Drunkenness. —Two first offenders were fined 5s and coats, or in default 24 hours' imprisonment. Lewis Waglan was fined £5, or in default 14 days' imprisonment. Assault.— Waglan was further charged with assaulting Georgo Codli.ii on .January 22. Accused pleaded guilty to the charge. Accused was fined £5, or in default 14 days' imprisonment on this charge, both sentences to run concurrently. Larceny.Helen Wright was charged with stealing five glass tumblers, valued at 2s 6d, the property of Harry Bennett. Accused pleaded not guilty to tho charge. Miss O'Brien deposed that accused had taken the tumblers from the bar of the Pier Hotel on January 22. Accused was sentenced to three days' imprisonment. Obtaining Wonky Under False Pretences.—John Burton was charged with obtaining tho sum of £17 10° from Ah Chee by means of a valueless cheque for £17 10s, on January 4. Accused was further charged with uttering and disposing of a certain cheque on the National Bank of New Zealand for tho payment of £34105, well knowing the samo to bo forged. Mr. Madden appeared for tho defendant, and SergeantMajor Pratt applied for a remand until Monday next, which was granted. Bathing in a Public Place.—John Donovan pleaded guilty to the charge of bathing publicly in an exposed port/ion of the harbour, between the hours of seven a.m. and eight p.m., contrary to by-law No. 94. Fined 5s and costs.

Aixeokd Threatening Lanouagk.— Henry W. S. MiJner was charged -with using threatening language to William Greon. Mr. Buddie appeared for the plaintiff, and Mr. Baume for the defendant. The case was adjourned till Friday next. Impounded Cattle.— Albert Smith was charged with illegally rescuing five cows and two horses, seized by Owen McGinn for the purpose of being impounded. Mr. Tolc appeared for the plaintiff, and Mr. Hammond for the defendant. Case adjourned till Tuesday next.
