There was a fair attendance. The following are the results of the racing Spring Ho rule Rack, of 150sovs. Two miles. Mr. E. Tancred's The Spy, 9at 51b (Gravestock) 1 Mr. D. O'Brien's Little Arthur, 10st21b (Walls) 2 Mr. W. Russell's Romulus, lOst 21b (Kingan) 3 Ixion (list 91b), Waterfall, Waitangi (lOst 71b), Pizarro (lOst, Tibs extra), Rnapehu (lOst, 7lb extra), and Don (9st) also started. Spy was quickest away, and jumped the first hurdle barely clear of Waterfall, with Little Arthur and Don coming next, and the others in close order. As they ran round the top turn Little Arthur and Don joined the Spy, but the lastnamed drew _ away again as they came down the straight, and passsing the stand was a length in front of Little Arthur with Don, Waitangi, and Romulus following in that order. Going along the back of the course Ixion and Romulus commenced to move up, and half a mile from home the race was left to the four leaders. Ixion was the first beaten, and as he fell back Little Arthur came on in front; but The Spy made his second effort inside the rails, and running very gamely under punishment, won all ouv by liwlf a length from Little Arthur, Romulus, a couple ox' lengths away third. Freedom and Craekshot "were the first to break the line, and as they came onto the old corner the pair were well clear of Dudu, with Wolverine, pulling double, coming next, while Whisper and Jet d'Eau were at the head of the second division, and Kotuku whipping in. There was no material change in these positions as they passed the stand and swept round the turn at Cutts, but racing towards Ford's Freedom and Crackshot slightly increased their advantage, Dudu bein',' at this point about a length in front of Wolverine and Whisper, with Kotuku and St. Andrew tailing off. Before reaching the six furlong post, the leaders took closer order, and at the kennels Freedom and Craekshot were evidently in trouble. Wolverine at the sometime coming on and takings command. As they came into the straight Wolverine was still at the head of affairs and going well, while Freedom and Craekshot were under the whip that they might keep their places, Dudu holding her own on the inside. Just above the distance post. Freedom and Craekshot fell back hopelessly beaten, and in the next dozen strides. Jet d'Eau and Whisper followed suit, leaving Wolverine striding along in front of Dudu with Occident and Whisper several lengths away. At the rails everything but the leader was under the whip, and finishing full of running the Le Loup horse won very easily by two lengths from Dudu, with Strephon, who had come very fast from the distance, another three lengths away 3rd, Occident was fourth. Whisper fifth, Craekshot sixth, Freedom .-seventh, Jet d'Eaft eightii, Kotuku, ninth, and St. Andrew last. Harris' Union Flag, Sst 51b (Matthews) 3 Dilemma (Sst slb), Morpheus (Bst 51b), Cajolery (Sst 51b), Lebel Bst 51b), May (Bst), and Aqualate (Bst), also started. After a long delay at the post, during which Cajolery and Florrie showed strong disinclination to join their field, the favourite, Florrie, jumped off in front on the inside, and at the half-distance was a couple of lengths in advance of Namoa and Union Flag, with Morpheus and Dilemma, who got off badly, bringing up the rear. Florrie maintained her advantage to the rails, where ISamoa got on terms, and a great race between the pair resulted in the latter winning all out by a neck, with Union Flag three lengths away third, May fourth, Libel fifth. Chudleigh and Vision ran in front to the top of the straight, where the field closed up, and Count d'Orsay, drawing away at the distance, won easily by a length from Silver Pine. Time, lm 41s.
