This was a splendid race, and was open right to the finish. Kotuku was first entering the straight, when Kupenga got on terms, and looked all over the winner, but Strephon, whom White had carefully nursed, came with one great run at the finish, and cutting down his opponents in fine style won an exiting race by a bare half length from Kupenga. Kotuku was a nee'- away third, while all the others finished in close order. Time, lm. 20s. Dividend, £4 3s. PAKURANGA HUNT CLUB. Among the many popular race gatherings to which Aucklanders are treated, none is more eagerly looked forward to than the annual meeting of the Pakuranga Hunt Club, and the fixture for the present year, which takes place at Ellerslie on Saturday, promises to be as successful as any of those previously held. The races set down for decision are seven in number, and the entries are most satisfactory. The chief event on the programme is naturally the Hunt Cup, and it is anticipated that an exciting contest will take place. Mr. T. Craig's Hurricane, last year's winner, occupies the highest place in the public esteem, but the race is held to be a very open one. The managing committee have perfected all needful arrangements, and special trains are to run to the course at convenient hours. The music on the lawn ' will be supplied by an efficient band under Mr. A. R. Hunter's leadership.
