SPANISH REPRISALS.
MASSACRE AT THE CAROLINES. Press Association. —Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. [Received October 15, 1 a.m.] Madrid, October 14. News has been reoeived that the Spanish expedition sent from the Philippine Islands, to punish the natives of the Caroline Islands, who surprised and killed a Spanish officer and twenty-seven men, has been successful. The garrison stormed the native position. The losses of the latter were heavy, while the attacking party lost one officer and several men.
