MAN DROWNED IN HARBOUR.
"iiTKRDAY at noon a young man named flaes Elworth, master of the scow Lake SfcJlair, was drowned off the vessel while plielay alongside tho eastern side of the Raway Wharf, taking in coal. The fob lowig are the particulars as given by Rolrt Lamb, a seaman of the scow, lie say ho last saw Elworth on board about lioo, putting a piece of board on the starboai side of the vessel, to keep the coal frongoing overboard, while he (Lamb) was on te wharf shovelling coal out of a truck intothe shoot by which the scow was load!. In about ton minutes he missed Llwth, and called, but got no answer. On earching the vessel lie. found no trues of the missing man, but thirty yard to the eastward of the scow he noticd Elworth's hat floating in the watt, and he came to tlie conclusion tliable had accidentally fallen overboard, kiul got drowned. The police were informd, and Sergeant Clarke, and the men of th Water Police, dragged for the body, whio they found later in tho afternoon near he scow. It is known that deceased cou 11 only swim a little. The body was convycd to the morgue, to await an inques to be held to-day, at (ileeson's Hotel, Lowr llobson-strect. Elworth was a natre of Ireland, unmarried, and twentyfchro years old. He resided in College Rod, l'onsonby. n
