The young man Alexander Blackmail, who waa arrested in Auckland on Thursday on a charge of having unlawfully obtained the sum of £12 10s from George Peel, manager of tho Ormlow Reduction Works, and who was remanded to Thames, was brought up at the Folico Court to-day ; but on the application of Sergeant Gillies, the case was further remanded until Monday, bail allowed, accused himself in .1100, and two sureties of £50 each.

Tho following ie a statement of the money order and Savings Bank transactions in tho Thames postal district for the quarter ended SOth September last j—The money orders issued numbered 14i>0 of a value of £4771 18* (id, on which the commission received was JC6S 3s» 4d. a.s against 14b'9 issued during the same quarter in 18S9 valued at £4641 7a Id, the commission received being £03 9s 4d. There were 814 money ordens paid of mi aggregate value of £3309 !o.s sd, against 781 valued at £'2910 (id 2d for the corresponding quarter in 1890. The transactions of the .Savings Bank whow that 1003 deposits of a vn ue of £10,311 14s 5d were made, against llfiS valued at £10,198 lGsSd in the September quarter last year ; tho withdrawals numbered (>(> l valued at £8709 14? b'd, against 039 aggregating £90.j0 (is 6d in the corresponding quarter for 1890; 145 new accounts were opened against 174 for the same quarter hist year ; while 107 accounts were closed against 136 for the corresponding period last year. There were 770 postal notes paid of a value of £308 8s 2Jd as against 7'2l valued at £274 4a 8d in the same quarter in 1880.
