A RAILWAY SYNDICATE.
PROPOSED BAY OF ISLANDSWHANG AREI LINE. INTERVIEW WITH THE ACTING PREMIER. [BY telegraph.-— correspondent.] Wellington, Friday. Mr. Napier, of Auckland, and Mr S. C. Kerry, on behalf of an English syndicate, formed to construct a line of railway between the Bay of Islands and Whangarei, had an interview yesterday with the Acting Premier. The proposals submitted to Mr. Mitchelson were afterwards laid before the Cabinet. It is generally .believed that Ministers expressed themselves very favourable to the projwsed lino. The line would open up a. wonderfully rich country, both as regards minerals, timber, and coal. In a project of this kind everything depends upon the terms upon which the work can be carried to completion. About that nothing can be known at present. Mr. Kerry has loft for Sydney, en route to England, to report to his principals.
