SOUTHAMPTON DOCK STRIKE.

London, September 14. SpROW, the local organiser of the Southampton strikers, has been arrested on a charge of intimidation. The action of the authorities has caused some excitement. A hitch has arisen over the settlement of the strike. The seamen and firemen having been granted an increase, the donkeymen and trimmers also demand a rise, but the employers refuse, and threaten not to allow dockers to return unless their demands are withdrawn.

Work lias been partially resumed at Southampton. Mr. Burns exhorted the dockers to take 5d an hour by day and 6d by night. He said it was useless to go on fighting for a formal recognition of the union.

All the masters except three have agreed to take on their old hands again. The men ultimately decided to agree to the terras proposed.

Bitter protests were made at a me' ing of dockers against the alleged betrayal by the London Executive. There was an excited scene, which culminated in the chairman bursting into tea
