KAIPARA. September 12.—Sailed : Sir John Franklin, barque, for Melbourne. She was loaded at Helensville. September 13.—Sailed: The barque Rose M., for Sydney. ACCIDENTS AT SEA. Port Chalmers, September 13. Arrived : Clan McLeod, barque, Captain Whitney, 106 days from New York, with the loss of her foretopgallant mast and jibboom. These were carried away during a heavy gale on August 21st. The Clan McLeod brings a part cargo for Auckland. Arrived : The Langstone barque, Captain Bate, 106 days from Glasgow. She met with heavy weather while running down her easting, but the only damage done was to one of her boats. In latitude 34"19 S., longitude 27* W., the Langstone spoke the four-masted barque Mersey, from Canterbury, New Zealand, for Falmouth, with her bowsprit carried away at the knightheads, with all gear attached ; her foretopmast g.->ne at the cap; all her mizzen topmast ami part of her bulwarks carried away; also a scaffolding rigged over the after part of the deck, as if something was wrong with the rudder. The vessel was steering all right, with a fair wind.
