EE TING IN WELLINGTON. [by TKLKGRAI'H.—pkess association'. ! Wellington*, Sunday. A mkkti.vg of the Shipowners' Association was licit yesterday afternoon. Captains Edwin, R.A., and StoU were elected Vicepresidents. The appointment of a President is held over, It, w.ih announced at the meeting that several officers had returned to their .ships, and the following resolution was passed :— " That as several of the 'illir-ers who are members of this association have returned to their ships and resumed their duties, thin meeting desires to express its hearty approval of the step they have taken." Captain Edwin thought it was a matter of great congratulation to see the officers resuming their duties on board the Union Company's ships. It was to him a matter of very great regret that those officers, who had served the company for so long, had left their vessels, and it was a pleasant thing to see that they had found that they had so acted by being misled, and had seen their mistake, and had returned. These remarks were received with applause. Eighteen new members were elected. It was decided to establish branches of the association at Lyttclton, Dunedin, and Auckland, and the managing committee were instructed to arrange with gentlemen likely to take up the positions of agents. Captain Andrews, of Auckland, and Captain Owen, of Lytteltoii, were mentioned as likely to accept C wge at those ports. Captain Strang, of trie ♦ Union Company, was unanimously elected secretary and treasurer of the association. The other business was merely routine. J
