The annual meeting of the Auckland Racing Club was held yesterday afternoon. There wero present : — Mr. T. Morrin (chairman), Messrs. J. Kirkwood, L. D. Nathan, J. Dickey, A. Buckland, W. Gorrie, A. Wright, J. F. Churton, P. Lanigan, and T. McEwiu. Tho annual report was read by Mr. Percival. It was as follows :—

In submitting the annual statement of accounts to you, your committee have to congratulate you upon tho continued prosperity of your club, notwithstanding the very severe depression in trade and agricultural pursuits, which lias not been confined to any one particular branch of business, as all have suffered, which has 110 doubt affected tho revenues of your club. During the year we have held five meetings, giving away in stakes £7850, against £6550 the previous year in four meetings ; your committee have under consideration the advisability of again holding another extra meeting. The profits, as shown by tile accounts attached, show a surplus of £SIS, which must bo considered satisfactory. Your committee have deemed it advisable to still further reduce the estimated value of your stands, and with this object have written off £lf>os, which leaves the new stand at £8000, and the Derby and other buildings at £1000, besides writing £105 off furniture and plant for depreciation. During the year the money passed through totalizator shows a large increase compared with the last two years, lie statement showing : ISSS-S!), £42,1)7(1; ISSiUMi, £M,f>!U. Our races oil the whole have been well attended by tho general public, but the railway fare evil still stares us in the face, and until the Hailway Commissioners can be prevailed upon to reduce the fare to one shilling, I am afraid we cannot expect to see larger crowds ; however, the reduction or otherwise of admission ti> the course is under the consideration of your Committee. Another meeting of delegates is"to be held in Wellington on the 15th of this month, at which the Hon. K. Mit'-helson has again been asked to represent this Club li e *"«' slight alterations in the rules are to be j ip - i but the chief business is to consider the pro >se I filiation of a New Zealand Jockey Clnb. Vol.. buildings and gallops are all in fair order, but we shall, at no distant date, be compelled to spend money in painting. Before closing this report, I must take tills opportunity of expressing the very great regret we must all feel at the loss we have sustained in the sudden death of four of our prominent members Messrs. W. I Taylor, A. K. Taylor, Samuel Turtle, and Samuel j agger, all of whom have at different periods taken a leading part in the affairs of racing.

The motion was seconded by Mr. A. Buck la j«d, and carried. COMMITTEE. Messrs. Morrin, Dickey, Russell, Philson, and the Hon. E. Mitchelson were re-elected members of committee, and Mr. Herbert Thompson was, on the motion of Mr. Lanican, seconded by Mr. Dickey, elected a member of lie committee instead of Mr. A. K.
