MASONIC.
Tiik monthly meeting of Lodgo Ara, ft.Z.C., was held last evening in the Free masons' Hall. There was a large attendance of brethren and visitors, including Brother A. S. Russell. D.G.M., Brother Cooper, A.S., Brother Kidd, G.P., Brother Page, R.W.M. St. Andrew's, and representatives from other sister lodges. Amongst the visitors were Brother Meadowcroft, P.G.S.W. of Victoria, and Brother Da Renzy, P.M. of Lodge Otago. The business, although lengthy, was of interest. Brother Meadowcroft's glowing account of the progress of the movement of national Masonry in Victoria wan heard with great attention and applause, but Brother De Renzy's description of the little bickerings in the South Island was a counter blast, and showed the necessity for a greater spirit of Masonic union, in New Zealand. Amongst the business o. the lo'dge was one initiation and one passing. Communications were received from the Grand Lodge. Four brethren were elected for affiliation and two gentlemen for initiation, and four others were proposed for affiliation and two for initiation.
