ECCLESIASTICAL.
The anniversary services in connection with the Grafton Road Wesleyan Church took place yesterday, and proved most successful throughout. 'Ihe Rev. C. H. Garland preached morning and evening. The Rev. Mr. Slade, missionary from Fiji, in the afternoon. The collections for the day amounted to £18 Is. The sale of work takes place on Tuesday afternoon from three to half-past seven in tho back schoolroom. The public soiree will Lake place on the same evening. Tea at half-past six ; public meeting in the church at half-past, seven, to be addressed by ministers and friends.
The Rev. Mr. Carrick preached at-Berosford-street Congregational Church, yesterday, and in referring to modem thought and the fundamental doctrines of Christianity said he hail been rejoiced to see the manner in which the prosecution of Dr. Marcus Dotls had terminated. lie was personally acquainted with Dr. Dods, who was a man of much ability and power, and be had been gratified to find by the Statement of Dr. Dods to the College Committee and by passages of his works that he was orthodox in respect to the Atonement, and other fundamental doctrines of the Church.
