FIRE AT HIKUTAIA.
[r.Y TELEGRAPH.OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Tll m Ms, W ednesdav. A VIVE-ROOMED cottage belonging to Mr. John Townsend, of the Thames, was destroyed by tire at Hikutaia last night. Mr. Townsend'? son was the only occupant when the fire originated, and lie was awakened by the mewing of the cat. At this time the tire had a strong hold near the fireplace in the kitchen. All the furniture was burnt, with ths exception of two or three small articles. There was a policy of £150 in the South British otlice on the house, but the furniture was uninsured.
