Press Association.—Electric TeUgraph.-Copynght.-London, June 15. Chief-Constable Howard has been appointed Assistant Commissioner of Police vice Mr. Pearson dead. The majority of the metropolitan force repudiate the profferred gratuity, and have resolved to give a month's notice of resignation unless Mr. Munro is reinstated, and their demands for increased pay conceded. Mr. Munro writes contradicting Mr. Matthew's version of his resignation.
