THAMES MINERS' UNION
[BY TELEGRAPH.OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Thames, Sunday. At the adjourned meeting of the Miners' Union last evening a resolution was carried making the standard rate of wages to be adopted for all miners working in the face 45s per week, a week to comprise 46 hours of labour, and to count as commencing at one o'clock on Monday morning, and to end at eight o'clock on Saturday evening. A discussion then ensued as to the advisability of affiliating with the Southern Union, but the matter was eventually adjourned to ascertain what effect such a proceeding would have with the Union at present in connection with the A.M.A. of Australia. Before the meeting dispersed it was unanimously decided to forward £20 of the Union's funds to the Auckland Tailoresses' Union, for the purpose of assisting them in the present strike against Mr. Mcßride.
