Buddie and Gillibrand report a sale of fruit and ornamental trees and shrubs, from the nursery of Mr. Mason, Hamilton, by Messrs. Arthur and Buddie, auctioneers, on Tuesday list, when over 26,000 plants were disposed of at fair prices. There was a good attendance and bidding brisk. On Wednesday Mr. A. Aitken, auctioneer, held a sale of Island fruit, placing 1,200 bunches bananas, ex Arawata, at 3<l to gd, and pine apples, oranges, and cocoanuts at satisfactory prices. The labour market shows a demand for farm hands. During the past week over 50 hands have been engaged at the City Market Registry at good wages, chiefly for the maize harvest, East Coast. Mr. Thornes, land agent, 81, Queen-street, reports the sale of a small farm at Drury on behalf of Mr. llembridge, with increased demand for farm properties, both to lease and sell.
