THE GOLDFIELDS.

[BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT. ] Thames, Monday. Lone Hand. Bull started six of his new ten head of stampers this morning to crush for this company, which mokes nineteen head now running on the quartz from tho no-. v level. ■ The other four head are employou in public crushing for a day or two.

Cambria.— crosscut at No. 2 level having been driven the stipulated 100 feet a start was made to-day to drive west upon the leader which was met with soon after the footwall of the main reef was penetrated. This is about eight inches thick, and is supposed to be the Nightingale leader.

Moanataiari. — Tho manager to-day banked 1620z 4dwts melted gold, obtained as follows : —lll tons quartz and 60 pounds picked stone from the Reuben Parr reef yielded 10i)oz 14dwt; 36 tons quartz from Cambria cross reef, lloz 14dwt8; and 565 tone surface dirt, 40oz 16dwt. Saxon.—The cleaning out of the company's shaft was completed early this morning down to a depth of 72 feet below No. 5 level, which takes it down to the top of the water, leaving about 13 feet more to clean out before the floor of No. C chamber is reached. Late this afternoon tho break was met with in the drainage crosscut from the Imperial shaft, from which a large volume of water is now proceeding. This is expected to quickly drain No. 6 level. MINE MANAGERS' REPORTS. Try Fluke.—On last Friday afternoon we connected the winze and low level by means of a small hole. Since then we have nob broken out quartz, with the exception of a few tons, to admit of a couple of sets of timber being pub in. From this space there has been from 25 to 30 tons of quartz taken out in all, and portions of which prospect very well, and ought to ehape well when treated at the battery, which will start about the end of next week. I am very busy now centering up the winze, laying teams, etc., and will be ready to send quart/ to the battery by the middle of the week, but of course this will be only of a temporary nature, as it will have to be bagged and sleighed a considerable distance, until the roads improve, and admit of wire rope, etc., being carted to its position, which probably will be another month, until which I am of opinion wo will not bo able to get down more quart?, to battery than sufficient for one shift per day. If more quartz can be carted the battery will work accordingly. New Prince Imperial. — The leading stop© on No. 2 lead at No. 3 level is in 40 feet. The country is looking a little better, but does not shoot very well, owing to the number of open heads through the ground. Tho leader is looking a good deal better. When breaking down the quartz on Thursday we saw a good many dabs of gold through the dirt, and got one pound of good picked stone. Connon and party were not able to got into the battery this week, but will crush early next week. Golden Gate.—Since writing last the drive on No. 2 reef has been extended 12 feet ; the reef has been taking off to the footwall, and has been rather small, but is now opening out again and coming round to its natural course. Tho crosscut has been extended 15 feet the last fortnight, and several quartz veins crossing the face and carrying a little gold and nice mineral, and a large flow of water. The reef, having a little more underlay, we have to drive a little further than I expected. May Queen. — The drive on the No. 1 lode has holed through to the drive on the No. 4 lode west. Tins will she-ten the distance for trucking. When this is squared tin and the road pub down, I will then pub the six men stoping on No. 1 lode. Bonanza (Kuaotunu). — The manager wires:—"No. 2 lode cub in No. level; gold showing in stone freely." [by telegraph.—press association. Ddnedin, Monday. Captain Pearce, the representative of the Sydney syndicate which is negotiating for the purchase of Cunningham's reef, Barewood, has received the first portion of 100 tons of quartz to be taken out to test the claim, and it is to be at once crushed. The Upper Waioori Alluvial Dredging Company obtained 2(j007. Sdwts 12grs gold for five days' work.
