THERMAL ACTIVITY AT TIKITERE.
[BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Rotorca, Saturday. Tin; springs at Tikitere have shown signs ii unusual activity during the past three weeks. Fresh outbreaks liave taken place, throwing mud up to a height of thirty feet, accompanied by a rumbling sound and slight earth tremours. These occur mostly at night. Mr. Mcßory, who resides on the spot, says that on the night of the Tarawera eruption a larse mud pool at Tikitere cot choked up with volcanic sand, and has been dormant ever since. He is of opinion that the new outbreak is the old one coming to life again, but not in the same spot.
