MASONIC.
PROVINCIAL GRAND LODGE, S.C. Ax emergency meeting of the Provincial Grand Lodge, S.C., was held last evening, Sir F. Whi'tstkor presiding. The business was the installation of .Brother William McCullough as Deputy Provincial Grand Master and Brother William Anderson as Substitute Provincial Grand Master. The attendance was large, Brother G. P. Pierce, Provincial Grand Master, !.(>., and his officers, to the number of eighteen, Brothers Wade, Moat, Clark, Garrett, La Roche. Tehbs, Davis, J. W. Reef, J. H. lianna, Rev. Dr. Kidd, J. Buchanan, A. Brock, and other past masters and brethren representing the District Grand Lodge, E.G. and L.C. Sir K. Whitaker made a lengthy address, statins his object in calling the meeting, and referred at length to the policy he proposed to pursue ill connection with the Grand Lodge of New Zealand. The commissions of trie newlyappointed officers having been read. Brother G. P. Pierce and Brother H. G. Wade presented Brother McCullough to Sir F. Whitaker, and Brothers Moat and .1. W. Rees (Past Masters) presented Brother Anderson. Brother Pierce, in making the presentation, gave an address, in which he referred in very complimentary terms to the services rendered Masonry by the brethren about to be installed. The ceremony of investiture with tho insignia of office having been concluded, Dr. Kidd gave a most interesting address upon_Masonry, and called attention to the necessity for Masons under present circumstances exhibiting that important virtue charity, and in its widest sense in relation to matters arising out of the institution of the Grand Lodge of New Zealand. A resolution thanking Brother M. Niccol for his services to Freemasonry, and especially those to the Provincial Grand Lodge, was proposed by Brother McCullough and carried unanimously. Votes of thanks to District and Provincial Grand Lodges and Dr. Kidd for his lecture, concluded the business. [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] C hristch , id ay. At St. Augustine's Masonic Hall last evening there was a large attendance at the installation of P.G. Brother Charles Louisson as District Grand Master for Canterbury under the Scottish Constitution. The installing officer was the R. W.D.G.M. of Otago and Southland (5.0.), Brother James Gore, of Dunedin, who was attended by his officors. Assistance was rendered by Brother G. S. Graham, W.D.G.M., Auckland (K.C.): Brother T. S. Graham, D.G.), Otago and Southland (E.C.) Brother P. Cunningham, D.D.G.M., Canterbury (E.C.), and his officers.
