CRUELTY TO HORSES.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —We, the undersigned, beg to call attention to what seems to be cruelty, practised by some drivers of the tramcars. Toiaj (Thursday) a car was going up Wellesley street, when the driver iumped off to punish the leading horse, which was doing its best. One of the other horses, in its painful efforts to drag along, was on several occasions on the brink of tumbling down. No wonder that jibbing horses are so frequently manufactured. We also saw a similar performance the other day in Wellesley-street East. Mrs. Aldis has a pen like a wasp's sting, sharp and venomous. Will she take itjup on behalf of the poor horse ?— His skin is sore with stripes, and he tottereth beneath his burden, And pain is stamped upon his face, while he wrestleth unequally with toil. Liveth there no advocate for him ? Xo Judge tc avenge his wrongs ? Yea, the sad eye of the tortured pleadeth pathetically for him; Tea, all the justice in Heaven is roused in indignation at his woes. We are, &c., Peter Tloss, J. G. Blakey, W. Greenshields.
