There is now no longer any doubt about the visit of the New South Wales representatives, as yesterday afternoon Mr F. 0. Cheeseman reoeived a cablegram from Mr. C. Davis, the manager of the team, stating that the players would leave Sydney by the Arawata.andrequestinghimto make all necessary arrangements for the matches in this and the other cities. We are sure that the visit of the Cornstalks will prove a great service to cricket in Auckland, and all those who desire to see first-class play should not miss the opportunity to witness the match which will take place on the Domain ground on the 30th and 31st inst. The following are the names of the players together with a short description of each: — H. IIooi.NSON (Sydney Club) : First-class batsman Hint good Belli. S. GREGORY (Sydney Club): Nephew of the wellknown Have Gregory, who captained the first Australian IS even, and youngest member of the team ; a first-class batsman ; excellent Held, and good change bowler with slight off break. S. I)BANK (.Sydney Club) : Good batsman aud firstclass wicket-keeper. Gkokqk Cowpkii (Carlton Club) : Excellent batsman ; cuts and drives well ; good field and fair change howler; among those chosen by the New South Wales Cricket. Association to practise for next intercolonial against Victoria. JOE Davis (Albert Club): Good batsman; cuts, ami hits well to leg; has played for New South Wales against Victoria on and off for past 10 years. fields well at point. Si t» Callaway (Carlton Club): First-class bowler ; breaks a little from the off; his main success is owing to the quickness he gets off the pitch ; fair batsman, and i;ood field. Chosen to practise for the next intercolonial. A. NKWKLI, (Sydney Club): Excellent bowler; breaks both ways, and varies his pace and pitch considerably ; good batsman, and fine field. V. laF.DAi.v: (Belvedere Club): First-class hatsman; hits Wbll all round the wicket; constant performer; good bowler and fair Held. Chosen to practice for next intercolonial. Mackenzie (Sydney Club): A young but fine layer, mentioned by several cricket writers as fit fur a place in the next Australian Eleven. Best performer with the bat last season and this season in club matches; has fine defence, and cau hit well when necessary; a fine out-field. Flayed in the last intercolonial against Victoria. McClivcuy (Newcastle Club): Oood allround E layer : fine batsman with good defence; first-class owler ; breaks both ways. A. Clarke iMansfield Club): Really good batsman ; fast run getter; fine field, and fair change bowler. K. Bennett (Sydney Club): Awkward bowlor to play ; bre iks both ways, particulary from log; good batsman and sure field. M. FIERCE (Oriental Club): The colt of the season has been getting some remarkable averages in bowling against all junior clubs, and in a match against the Sydney Club, whi.-li is one of the best senior cl ibs in New south Wales, he obtained the fine average of nine wickets for 57 runs on a firstclass wicket. Chosen to practise for the next intercolonial. — Vouill (Carlton Club): Really good batsman ; plays clean and hard ; sure field. J. Shepherd (Albert Club): Fair batsman, and good wickctkucper.
