SCAB IN SHEEP.

[BY TELEGRAPH. —PRKSS ASSOCIATION. ] Wellington, Friday. With reference to the recent telegram from Wellington stating that New Zealand is now free from scab, and that in all probability the whole of the colony would have a clean certificate in a few weeks, the Minister of Lands says that although practically the colony is clear, yet " technically "it is not. There must be a period of probation from the last dipping of the flock infected. The last clean certificate was granted in Canterbury some three months ago. At. present there are only three flocks in the colony not having clean certificates, one small farm lot in Auckland, and two flocks in the Nelson district. The Minister of Lands thinks that the North island will be declared " technically '* clean in about a month, and the South island in two months. It has been resolved, however, not to'commit the error made on a previous occasion of declaring the colony clear. Even after the granting of the last certificate, it is intended to allow a considerable period of probation to first elapse.
