POLICE COURT.— [Before Captain Thomas and Messrs. S. Y. Collins and C. J>. Whrtcorabs,' J.P.'s.] Drunkenness. — Henry McGinn, for being drunk while in charge of a horse and cart, was fined 20s and costs, with the option of 14 days' imprisonment. Breach ok the Peace. Joseph Robinsonand Henry Donnelly were charged with creating a breach of the peace by publicly fighting in Albert-street. Constable Gordon deposed that he saw the accused fighting in Albert-street on Thursday. Ho did not see the commencement of the fighting. The Bench discharged Donnelly, stating that he appeared already to have hail sufficient punishment. Robinson was fined 10s and costs, or in default 48 hours' imprisonment. Alleged Breach of City By-laws. — Henry Eliott was charged with having a stray cow in New "forth Road. Mr. E. J. Clendon appeared for the accused, who pleaded not guilty. Mr. Clendon said thab the information had been wrongly laid, as tlie cow was not the property of the defendant. The Bench dismissed the case. Tailing to Register Birth.—William Robert Goudie was charged with failing to register the birth of his child within the time specified. The defendant pleaded guilty, and was fined 5s and costs. Alleged Assault.— McDonald was charged with assaulting and beating Rose Ertle by striking her in the face. Rose Ertle deposed that the defendant had assaulted her without any provocation. After hearing the evidence of the defendant, the case was dismissed.
