+ New Zealand Herald Office. Friday evening. The Customs duties to-day amounted to £2,713 19s sd. Messrs. AitTUim and JJonnt.B's Weekly Kb. PORT.— have been six sale* by auction this week, all of them at the mart, ami have been wellattended. .Monday, drapery, clothing:, fancy goods, Ac. ; Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday poultry, produce, fruit, Ac.; Wednesday, household furniture and effects ; Thursday, freehold property in Arthurstreet, Ponsonby. Produce lias been in fair request, at ab lit last week's prices; a large quantity has been sold. Potatoes do not improve in price, but .supply and demand has been more fairly mot. Onions not plentiful ; pi ices firmer. Vegetables have been again brought forward in very largo quantity. Fresh butter has been very plentiful; the better quality has brought a fair price: salt butter Ik but little asked for Cheese is not brisk : must be really Kooii to command attention ; prices rule low. (load bacon ami hams are scarce ; most of tint to hand second class or infeiior, and is difficult to work off at low prices. Fresh eggs have been wanted. Fruit of all kinds has come to hand iu very largo quantity; all have sold at good prices, en the whole higher than it did last week. We are now holding three sales per week for fruit, munch, on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. Poultry : A nood supply of fowls ami ducks ;no turkeys or geese. Prices in some cases have been lower than for the last two weeks ; many were out of condition. Cockerel* in good order brought us high as 3s 2d each. Pigs brought good prices; not a largo supply. Household furniture and requisites in fair request. No properties ham changed hands since Christians; there has been but little enquiry. The auction sales have been well attended, and large quantities have been put through. Potatoes have met with somewhat better demand, but the supply ha;i been in excess of requirements. Shepherd's 30s to 40m per ton ; good kidneys, £2 10s to £3 ; Holarts, £'i 10s to £3, all Hacks extra. Onions have come to hind in Rood quantities, anil fair qualities sold at Jd to lid. Wheat has been iu better supply and in fair demand at 3s 3d, sacks iu ; maize, $* ; brau, sharps, and pi-meal, £4 ; flour, £S to £10 ; green peas more plentiful at froui Od to lid ; beans, 3d to fid ; cucuuil>ers, Od to Is 3d dozen ; cabbage, Is Btl to 2s sack, yd to Is dor.eii ; cauJitlowers. 2s to 2* Oil ; rhubarb, is Oil to 2s 3d ; oats dull of sale at from 2s to 2s 4d. In the poultry department the supply has been larger and demand unsatisfied. Poor and old fowls realised from Is to Is 3d, good ordinary Is 7d to 2s, roosters young in condition 2s 5d to 3s, small and old Is 4d to 2s, chicks 5Jd to Is ; ducks, Is 4d to 2s 3d ; geese, 3s 9d ; turkeys, hens, 2s M to 4s 3d ; gobblers, 7s ltd to bs 3d ; canaries. Is Od to 2s Od ; pigeons, 9d to Is 3d. Pigs came to hand in fair numours, and the demand was good. Good sorts sold at from Ss C<i to 10s Od, poor bred and small suckers from 5s 3d to 7s Od. In dairy produce all kinds In full supply : cheese plentiful and dull of sale at from 3d to 4d ; fresh butter is aUo very plentiful at lower values—fair quality, ftd to OJd, medium 4d, inferior 2d to 3jd. Eggs have been in good supply at higher values, the market having been cleared of many bad lots; prices have ranged from SJd to IOJd. Uoney of all kinds very difficult to quit at from ljd to 2jd. Bacon and ham* : Very few good lot* ottering ; prime local, tfd to 7d ; haras, Sd ; poor and inferior bacon, lit to 4d ; bams, 2d to od." Keg butter very plentiful; new is in very limited demand, for extra prime only, at from id to Oil ; medium finds uo demand ; last season's make moves off very slowly at ljd. In the fruit department there has been a large assorted supply ; for all a strong demand continues at satisfactory prices, (capes have been more plentiful at from yjd to lo.jd. Plums : Fair supply ; Early Rivers, 4jd to Od ; Green gages, 4}d to Ojd; other varieties, 4jd to od. Cape goose* berries, 4jd to 7d. Pears have come to hand in good quantities; Jargonelles, 2jdto3Jd ; Windsor, 2d to 2jd ; Chlssal, Id to ljd. Tomatoes, 2d to 6d. A large quantity of apple.-;, wore entered, but the demand was unsatisfied for good clean lota ; g'*>d Irish Peach, Id to ljd : Red Astrakhan, 2d to 2{d ; White ditto, Jd to ljd; good large cooking kinds, Id to ljd; small and mothed apples, Jd to Jd.
