The outward mail steamer Alameda took her departure at 4.30 a.m. yesterday for San Francisco, with cargo and passengers from this port and Sydney, as mentioned in yesterday's Herald. About 3 o'clock yesterday morning the a.s. lona. was floated out of the Auckland Dock, and berthing at the Queen-street Wharf, she took in a quantity of general freight for Tauranga and Mercury Bay, and sailed for those porta about 10 a.m. From the local office of the New Zealand Shipping Co. we learn that the splendid iron clipper ship Persian Empire, 1532 tons, has been chartered to load at London for this port, and was taking in cargo at the date of latest advice 3 from home. Yesterday forenoon the fine ship Morning Light was hauled in from her anehorage in the stream and berthed at the No. 2 Jetty. She will there discharge her cargo of Southern breadstuff's and grain with as much despatch as possible, in order that she may be placed upon the outward berth. for London promptly. After putting out her inward cargo at the main pier the s.s. Ringarooma shitted over to the Kailway Wharf yesterday to take in a quantity or sleepers and other railway material for the South. The schooner Lily was busily engaged in putting out her grain from Lyttelton at the Queen-street Wharf yesterday. Last evening at 8 o'clock tne s.s. Wellington left for Whangarei with a large number of passengers and general cargo. The Union S.S. Arawata -will come out of the Calliope Dock to-morrow morning early, and load up for her regular Fijian porta.
