ANGLICAN HOME MISSION.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—A letter appears in your paper-thia morning signed "Interested," asking why such an inconvenient night as Wednesday was chosen for the annual meeting of the Home Mission Society. I am glad of the opportunity of stating the reason, for l am sure many other friends of the Home Mission must have thought in the same way as "Interested." The meeting was fixed by the committee for this week because ib was the week of the annual gathering of all the clergy at Bishop's Court, and it was desired that the country clergy should be present at the meeting. The committee were obliged to select Wednesday as the day, because the other evenings, and the schoolhouse also, were engaged. The whole matter was well considered by the committee, and it appeared best to have the meeting on Wednesday. The lecture given on the " History of the Church in the Diocese of Auckland," will be repeated in other parishes and districts. lam, etc., John Haskldkn, August 23. Hon. Secretary H.M.S.
