THE PUHIPUHI TRAMWAY.
[BY TELEGRArH.— PRESS ASSOCIATION.] mo, Thursday. An indignation meeting was held in Whangarci last night, re the action of the Wairoa people in condemning the Puhipnhi tramway. A bogus report, supposed to be given by men from the other side, was severely commented upon. It was shown that during the whole of their supposed inspection of the river, it was in a state of high flood, and they could nob get within miles of it. The statements made by the various speakers at tho Aratapu meeting were also shown to be untruths, and exaggerations of the widest kind.
