The Wainui Road Board met at the office of the Board, Orewa Falls, on Monday, the 12th instant. All the members were present. This was the first meeting of the newlyelected Board, the following being the result of the election. Tliere were sixty-four polled, and there were two informal votes Mr. A. Jack, jun., 62; Mr. A. Hatfield, jun., 55; Mr. W. 8. Moyes, 50; Mr. E. Scott, 48: Mr. E. Bond, 48; Mr. Colgan, 2!); Mr. J. Lord, 13. The first five were declared duly elected. Air. A. Jack, jun., was elected chairman, •with the offices of clerk and treasurer, for the year ; Mr. VV. Freeman was appointed collector, and Messrs. Hatfield and Bond cheque-signers. The chairman reported that the Audit Inspector, Mr. Mclntyre, had examined the accounts and found them correct. Mr. Hatfield reported that some extra work was required at Grutt's Creek, and tea-tree clearing from there to main road on Old Falls Road. He proposed that the present contractor, Mr. Cunningham, do the extra work required for £2 10s, which Mer Cunningham was willing to do. Secondd by Mr. Bond and carried. Mr. Moyes re ported several bad places on Uriper WaiweraRoad, which were deferred uiltil next meeting. The treasurer reported that the Board had only about £13 to their credit in the bank, but the subsidy was now due, which would be a consideration this year, as through the indefa-tigability of the collector, Mr. Freeman, they would receive subsidy on £115. The chairman gave notice that a rate of in the £ would be moved at next meeting, to be held on the 2nd September, at 2 p.m. The rate-book is now open for inspection at the chairman's residence. On the motion of Mr. Moyes, seconded by Mr. Bond, it was resolved in future to require a deposit of 10 per cent, on the contract price of all contracts. Lots were drawn for the retiring members, with the result that M essrs. Bond and Moyes retire next year and Messrs. Jack, jun., Hatfield, jun., and Scott are elected for two years. £8 10s was paid Mr. M. Cunningham for Old Falls Road contract, which concluded the business. —[A Corresponded.]
