" SCENE" ON THE THAMES WHARF.
[BY TELEGRAPH.— OWN CORRKSFONDKNT.] Thames, Tuesday. A somkwhat singular incident occurred on the goods wharf this afternoon, prior to the Rotomaha-na leaving tor Auckland. Two Mormon Elders were intending passengers, and they had arranged to take along with them a little girl, six years old, whose Mother at present resides in Melbourne. A woman named Gould has had control of the child for gome time past, but owing to the inducements held out by the Mormons she had agreed to hand the child over to them, although she had no authority for ling so. An aunt of the child, however, became informed of what was to take place, »d resolved to prevent the child from being taken away. Accordingly she stood at the gangway of the steamer, and when 16 Mormons prepared to go aboard she "etched up the child and ran with it into ">« inner office of the goods shed, at the --me tune calling on Constable Bern, who J»* standing by, to protect her.
