THE VACANT JUDGESHIP.
[by TELEGRAPH. speciaI CORRESPONDENT.]
Wellington, Tuesday. A paragraph appears in to-night's Press stating that the appointment to the vacant judgeship will be offered to Mr. Hesketh, of Auckland, and in the event of that gentleman declining the honour, which is considered probable, to Mr. Haggefct, of Dunedin, in which case Mr. Justice Williams will be asked to remove to Auckland. Mr. Mitchebon tells me this is incorrect. The position has not yet been offered to anyone, and it is probable that no steps will be taken to (ill the vacancy for some time.
