DESPERATE FIGHTING. Cairo, August 4. Pakticuxars of the action with the Arabs show that Grenfell left Toski at 5 in the morning, and found the enemy preparing to advance.

The English commander feigned to withdraw, but when four miles from Toski stopped and charged the cavalry to right and infantry to left.

The Dervishes were driven from hill to hill, fighting desperately as they were forced back.

They were charged repeatedly by the cavalry while vainly attacking the righ* of the Egyptian troops, and Wad El Jiani, their chief, was killed.

After seven hours' fighting the Arabs broke and finally fled, leaving theii leader, with 12 emirs and 1500 men dead on the field.

The cavalry and gunboats on the river followed the fugitives for miles.

All the Dervishes' baggage and 5C standards were captured.

Received August 6,1 a.m. Caiko, August 5. Major-General Grenfell has captured 1000 prisoners, besides a large numbei of weapons and one gun.

The remnant of the Dervishes were driven into the desert, there to die of hunger or thirst.

General Grenfell lost 17 killed and 130 wounded.

It has been decided to occupy Sarras The troops are returning to Cairo the invasion being at an end.
