KILLED. Press Association.—Electric Telegraph—Copyright Thursday Island, August 5. Eastern news, received per the British India steamer, states that 126,000 armed rebels from Bakem attacked the villages of Nakoa andChungtok,and slaughtered four hundred, besides a large number of women and children. Three thousand troops have been sent to the disturbed district.
The Chinese riots which occurred at Bankokjliave been quelled. They were caused by members of secret societies. During the riot twenty persons wero killed and one hundred and fifty wounded, while nine hundred were taken prisoners.
