The employees of the Lyttelton Times Company met on Saturday to bid farewell to Mr. R. A. Loughnan, who leaves, after having occupied the editorial chair of the Lyttelton Times for fifteen years, to take charge of the Catholic Times afc Wellington. Mr. J. 0. Wilkin, business manager, occupied the chair, Messrs. E. Vcsey Hamilton and T. W. Maude representing the proprietary, ab present in Christchurch. Mr. Hamilton, after a short speech eulogising the editor's services to the journal, and wishing him success and prosperity, presented Mr. Loughnan with a purse of sovereigns, one attached to the clasp bearing a suitable inscription. A copy of " A Singular Legacy," Mr. Loughnan's first published work, very hondsomely bound and inscribed, was also presented him, together with a large illuminated address and testimonial, the address being let into a copy of the front page of the Lyttelton Times, with bordered views of the office and similar appropriate surroundings.
