Hartley Fowler, member for Wolverhampton, stated that there was very strong opposition on both sides of the House to the Bill giving responsible government to Western Australia. In concluding his remarks, Mr. Fowler asked what was the intention of the Government in the matter? Mr. W. H. Smith, First Lord of the Treasury, replied that he would give an answer on Monday. Sir George Campbell, member for Kkkaldy, gave notice of a motion rejecting the Bill giving responsible government to Western Australia.
